Short Biography:
Rianne Hill Soriano is a freelance production artist doing directing and writing works in film and commercial/corporate productions.
She is a fellow of the Pusan International Film Festival's Asian Film Academy 2009 and the Korean Film Council's (KOFIC) Asian Film Professionals Training Program 2008 in Busan and Seoul, Korea. She shot the 16mm film "Technophilia" during her stay through the help of KOFIC, Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), and Korea University.
As an independent filmmaker, her first film “Karsel” (35mm, narrative) received the Kodak Film Award and Best Film Thesis 2003 at the University of the Philippines Film Institute. It was also nominated for 17th Gawad Urian Best Short Film Award. She produced her second film “Aninag” (35mm, narrative) and her third film “Pera-perahang Lata” (HD, narrative) through film grants from the National Commission and for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
"Technophilia" and “Pera-perahang Lata” are the first Filipino independent films successfully projected in HD format in the country.
